| A survey of the groundwater fauna of The Netherlands has revealed the presence of 4 species of Parastenocarididae, viz. Parastenocaris fontinalis Schnitter & Chappuis, 1915, P. tumida Kiefer, 1961, P. germanica Kiefer, 1936, and P. nolli Kiefer, 1938, the latter two being new for The Netherlands. P. tumida is only imperfectly known, but there is enough material so that a full description can now be given not only of the female but also of the male hitherto unknown. |

| Five species of harpacticoid copepods belonging to three families and four genera were collected from various samples of sea ice taken during five cruises of RV Polarstern to the Weddell Sea from 1985-89. One species is new and described, namely <i>Hastigerella antarctica</i> sp. n. <i>Drescheriella racovitzai</i> comb. n. (Griesbrecht, 1902), <i>Harpacticus furcifer</i> Giesbrecht, 1902 and <i>Idomene antarctica</i> (Giesbrecht, 1902) are redescribed. The fourth nauplius of an unknown representative of Ectinosomatidae is described as well as three naupliar stages of <i>Harpacticus furcifer</i>. |
